Take Profit & Stop Loss Orders (TP/SL)

Updated over a month ago

TP/SL orders are designed to close your position once a specified profit (take profit) or loss (stop loss) condition is met.

Trigger Price

  • TP/SL orders use the mark price to determine when they trigger.

  • TP/SL orders execute as market orders when triggered.

Chart Dragging (TradingView)

  • You can drag TP/SL orders directly on the TradingView chart.

  • If you drag an order to a level where it would immediately execute, the action will take place after confirmation.

Order-Linked TP/SL (OCO / “Parent Order” TP/SL)

This TP/SL type is tied to a specific parent order. Read carefully to avoid surprises.

Size behavior

  • TP/SL created from the Order form uses a fixed size equal to the parent order size.

When child TP/SL orders are placed

  • If the parent order is filled, the TP/SL children are placed immediately.

  • If you cancel an unfilled parent order or a portion of it, the child TP/SL orders are canceled.

Position Table non partial TP/SL

TP/SL created from the positions table row:

  • Attempts to close the full position size at the time it triggers

Position TP/SL is the most beginner-friendly option because it has the simplest placement and cancellation behavior.
